Newsletter 12-5-2013

A December membership meeting was called to order @ 7:00 p.m. by Commodore Gary Vanucchi.

A motion by Joe Vriale to waive the reading of the previous meeting was seconded by Ken Kligerman and carried. The Board minutes were read and approved by Barbara Vriale, seconded by  Joe Vriale and carried.

Financial Secretary – Barbara Vriale reported the deposits for the month of November, {$5,397.90}. Billed duty days $2,700.00, owed to date, $450.00, late notices sent out on the 4th of December. Dock hours and winter storage are paid in full. Associate members that did not complete their six hours were sent bills on December 4th, totaling $450.00 dollars, due on or before December 31st, 2013. One associate member is being removed from the associate membership list. Barbara Vriale read a letter written from Patricia Tice asking the Board to exempt her from a tour of duty day, because of a physical disability. Next year is her last year of tour of duty, she will be a lifetime member after that. Daryl Legg made a motion to  accept Patricia Tice`s exemption letter, Joe Vriale seconded and carried. A motion by Joe Vriale to approve the Financial Secretary`s report was seconded by Daryl Legg and carried.

Treasurer- Clark Henderson went over a detailed financial report . After discussion Joe Vriale made a motion to accept Clark`s financial report,  Lenore Whitcomb seconded and carried.  

Commodore- Gary Vanucchi  reported the board went over the By- Law changes, the rules of the club for associate members changes and the rules and regulations governing dockage at the Catskill Yacht  Club changes. The Board recommends them to the membership and will be voted on at the general membership meeting on December 5th, 2013. { posted 11/04/13, copies are available at the club, brief summary notes attached to this newsletter.}  After discussion, the secretary read the changes to the associate members rules, just a few word changes, and Ed Legg made a motion that we accept  all the changes to the associate members rules. John Decker seconded and carried. After more discussion,  By-Law changes and the rules and regulations governing dockage, Dennis Callahan made a motion that we wait until January`s membership meeting so we have more time to check out the changes {VINCE GRAHAM HAS POSTED THEM ON THE WEBSITE} {THEY ARE ALSO POSTED IN THE CLUBHOUSE} John Decker seconded and carried.

Dock master-Bud Whitcomb reported  we will try to do better with the dock hours. Each member will have a ledger/ sheet of their own and get the committee member or dock master to sign off on the time sheet. Lenore Whitcomb will have a associate members sheet in the shed outside  and will sign off on that. The underwater bridge from the land side is deteriorating so that has to be looked at, and repaired.  In January, the board will discuss if we should  make changes to accommodate larger boats.

Vice Commodore- Jim Gribben  asked the secretary if we could leave the yearly binders here at the club, in case one of the members want to look something up in a previous year. Also he asked  the dock master to leave the chart for hours here  in the clubhouse so everyone can see what the running total hours is for each member.

Committee Reports:

Bar- Jim Gribben thanked Lenny Rein and Dennis Callahan for having their is having the Greene County Police Association Party here at the clubhouse and generating a little over two hundred dollars. He thanked Tony and Vicky for having the jewelry party on the 24th of November and generated another two hundred dollars. The clubhouse was left spotless after both parties.   

Building Committee Chairman- Vicky Perzanowski thanked Tony  and all the other members who helped clean the clubhouse this season. The jewelry party held at the clubhouse was a success. There was lots of good food and a lot of the buyers were men. Vicky thanked George Pulver for making the lovely fireplace cover. Vicky thanked Maggie`s sister for putting up Christmas decorations for our Christmas Party on Saturday that Uwe Hestnar is hosting.

Grounds Committee Chairman – John Ferguson reported the grass has stopped growing and there is nothing to report.

Gas Chairman- Joe Vriale reported Becker`s would not commit to a date to change the tires so Gary and Bud are going to bring the tires to Van Kleek`s to get them changed on Saturday morning.   

Dock Rental Chairman- Joy Vanucchi reported  nothing to report.

Council- Bob LaBuff reported the next council meeting will be held at Castleton on January 7th, 2014.

There are three Board seats open. The Board recommends to the general membership the following members for the three Board seats. 1. Edward Legg 2.Daryl Legg 3. Clifford Bertrand

Commodore Gary Vanucchi made a motion to open the floor for nominations, Vice Commodore Jim Gribben seconded and carried.

The Board recommended Gary Vanucchi for Commodore. There were no nominations from the floor. Dennis Callahan made a motion to accept the Board`s recommendation for Commodore. A single vote was cast by the secretary.

The Board recommended Jim Gribben for Vice Commodore. There were no nominations from the floor.  Edward Legg made a motion to accept the Board`s recommendation for Vice Commodore. A  single vote was cast by the secretary.

The Board recommended Barbara Vriale for Financial Secretary. There were no nominations from the floor. Dennis Callahan made a motion to accept the Board`s recommendation for Financial Secretary. A single vote was cast by the secretary.

The Board recommended Clark Henderson for Treasurer. There were no nominations from the floor. Tony Perzanowski made a motion to accept the Board`s recommendation for Treasurer. A single vote was cast by the secretary.

The Board recommended Edward Whitcomb for Dock master. There were no nominations from the floor . Joe Vriale made a motion to accept the Board`s recommendation for Dock master. A single vote was cast by the secretary.

The Board recommended Joy Zanchelli for Secretary. There were no nominations from the floor. Joe Vriale made a motion to accept the Board`s recommendation for Secretary. A single vote was cast by the secretary.

The Board recommended Edward Legg, Daryl Legg and Clifford Bertrand for the three board seats open. Commodore Vanucchi asked the membership if there are any nominations off of the floor for the board.. Lenny Asaro nominated Lenny Rein for one board seat. Maggie Fortman seconded and carried. Lenny Rein nominated Lenny Asaro for one board seat. Dennis Callahan seconded and carried. Debbie Rasbach nominated Tony Perzanowski for one board seat. Steven Rumph seconded and carried. Maggie Fortman nominated Uwe Hestnar for one board seat. Uwe Hestnar declined.  John Ferguson made a motion that the nominations be ceased. Joe Vriale seconded and carried. There was a closed ballot vote. After the ballots were counted by Karen Decker and Bill Carr, the three board seats went to Leonard Rein, Leonard Asaro, and Anthony Perzanowski.

Commodore Gary Vanucchi picked a committee, with Bud acting as the chairman,  to discuss the docks, moving them to allow larger boats, etc. The following are on the committee, 1. John Smith  2. John Decker 3.Tony Perzanowski 4. Bill Fortman 5.Vince Wallace

SPECIAL EVENTS:   

Lenore Whitcomb announced that on  March 29th and 30th, 2014 she and Bud will be having a “Thank God It`s Spring  Party” up at Winter Clove Inn, an overnight. Dinner, Cash Bar, bowling $4.00 dollars per game including your shoes , heated pool, Karaoke, Full Breakfast Sunday Morning. It will be $65.00 dollars per person, must be paid by March 6th, 2014. $25.00 goes back to the club.
