Newsletter 6-6-2013

A June membership meeting was called to order @ 7:00 p.m. by Commodore Gary Vanucchi

Commodore Vanucchi asked the membership to stand for a moment of silence for long time member Martha Fingar, who passed away.

Commodore Vanucchi reported that the Board interviewed Elisa Danielle Jarvis for associate membership at the Board meeting on 6/3/13. Ed Legg went over all the rules for associate membership to her. Her sponsors are Daryl Legg and Clifford Bertrand. The Board recommends her for associate membership to the general membership. Elisa Danielle Jarvis introduced herself to the general membership. After discussion, Joe Vriale made a motion that we accept Elisa Danielle Jarvis for associate membership. Ken Klingerman seconded and carried.  

 A motion by Barbara Vriale to waive the reading of the previous meeting was seconded by Joe Vriale and carried. The Board minutes were read and approved by Joe Vriale, seconded by Barbara Vriale and carried.

 Financial Secretary – Barbara Vriale reported the deposits for the month of May, {$1,110.00}. All members need to send a valid insurance certificate to Barbara, before launching your boat.   A motion by Joy Zanchelli to approve the Financial Secretary`s report was seconded by Bob LaBuff.

Treasurer-A detailed financial report prepared by Clark Henderson on {06-03-13}, was reviewed and approved {6-6-13} with a motion to accept Clark Henderson’s financial report by Joe Vriale, seconded by Barbara Vriale.

Dock master- Bud Whitcomb reported Vice Wallace purchased new cleats for any member that needs one replaced. John Decker has to rework some pipe on the pump out and get some can lock fittings for it. Bud got a price from VanKleecks Tire to change the tires on the pettibone bone for $600.00 dollars. Joe will check on Smiley`s equipment for a price. After discussion, Bill Fortman made a motion to have VanKleecks change the tires for $600.00 dollars. Tony Perzanowski seconded and carried. John Smith made a motion that after we have the tires changed; put the pettibone by the fence for sale for $2,500.00. Bob LaBuff seconded and carried.   The 1998 Lull is now down to $15,500.00 dollars. After discussion, Tony Perzanoski made a motion that the club purchases the lull for $15,500.00 dollars. Bill Fortman seconded and carried.    

Vice Commodore- Jim Gribben reported he got an estimate of $300.00 dollars for the damage done to the bottom of the building from the weed whacking. REMINDER- PLEASE BE CAREFUL, NOT TO HIT THE SIDING ON THE BUILDING WHEN WEED WACKING. Jim also reminded members who are doing duty day that it starts at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 6:00 p.m. If you need to change the starting time of your duty day, please contact Jim at 518-622-2336. The burn pit is full of debris. It needs to be taken care of before anyone can use it for a barbeque. The quarterly reviews were done at the board meeting on 6/3/13. Jim reported he cannot see giving people a free ride when the job is not being done. This is the first year we are doing this, so he is letting it slide a little bit, but he is not happy about it. The yard, the lawn and the burn pit should be should be taken care of.

REMINDER- THE SANDWICHES THAT WAYNE NELSON DONATES TO THE CLUB ARE FOR ON PREMISE CONSUMPTION ONLY.

CREEKSIDE MARINA/ RESTRURANT ARE PART OF THE HUDSON MOHAWK COUNCIL. SEAN MEAGHER  ASKED THAT ANY MEMBER WHO WOULD LIKE TO USE THE POOL TO PLEASE CONTACT HIM FIRST BECAUSE HE HAS PARTIES OTHER THEN HUDSON MOHAWK COUNCIL MEMBERS AT THE POOL. YOU CAN CONTACT SEAN AT 943-6522 or 518-331-5875.

Commodore – Commodore Gary Vanucchi reported Kathy Becker would like to rent the clubhouse on Saturday, October 12th, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Clark and Dale Henderson would be bartending. The Board recommends this to the general membership. After discussion John Smith made a motion to go ahead with the Board`s recommendation for Kathy. Joe Vriale seconded and carried.

At the board meeting there was discussion about parking trailers at the clubhouse. The board decided that it should be treated as a boat dock rental, providing there is room,  the trailer would need certificate of insurance, and registered to the member, two days free and after that they would pay the rate by the foot , according to size. They would not be able to run generators or leave the air conditioner on when not using.  After discussion Joe Vriale made a motion that we accept doing this on a trial basis this year. Bud Whitcomb seconded and carried.  

 Reports:

 Bar- Jim Gribben thanked Uwe for cooking the other night and Bill Fortman for bartending last weekend. 

Building Committee Chairman- Vicky Perzanowski reported she will pick up a few thermostats for the refrigerators. The floor will cost $250.00 dollars to have it professionally waxed. After discussion, Bob LaBuff made a motion to get the floor waxed professionally. Bill Fortman seconded and carried .REMINDER- PLEASE PUT THE DATE AND WHAT IS IN THE CONTAINER IF YOU LEAVE FOOD IN THE REFRIDGERATOR. Grounds Committee Chairman – John Ferguson- no report, absent on 6/3/13 and 6/7/13.  If any member or associate member needs hours, please contact John at 518-589-0142 or 518-821-4294.  

Gas Chairman- Joe Vriale reported he replaced the filter and the nozzle on the gas pump. The electrician did some electrical wiring on the pump. The tank was tested and there was no water in the gas. Corey Fong will be staining and hanging the doors on the gas tank.

Dock Rental Chairman- Joy Vanucchi  asked that associate members renting docks to please have your application, insurance certificate, and your check turned into her before you launch your boat. Also to remind associate members that they are responsible for moving or pulling your boat out if there is a storm.  Members, please have your name plates on and at the correct boat dock.   You can contact Joy @ 518-943-0840

Work Chairman- Cliff Bertrand resigned from this position at the Board meeting on 6/3/13.

Council- Robert LaBuff reported the Flare Up was a great success. The council meetings will be six times a year, instead of four.  The next council meeting will be July 2, 2013 in Troy.

Old Business- Yard Sale at clubhouse Saturday June 8th, 2013, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The rain date- Sunday, June 9th, 2013.

New Business-Bill Fortman reported that the Board of Health inspector asked for our food permit. Bill reported that we need to keep up with all the insurances and permits for the club. Barbara Virale will contact Clark Henderson.
